two things came to mind while lookin a at the view interest.
1. what about adding a fave. website catigory?
2. if someone hasn't filled out any interest at all, why show the "View Interest" link? not to mention the word Interest is spelled wrong.

i love your first idea, it's 1 thing that really needs to be done i think (if we can't have the links section)

as for the second 1, it's a bug. not that people have not filled them in, it's just well, something that needs fixing

Some people i saw didn't fill them in.

well maybe for those people, the fields could be hidden?. just another idea

Post 5 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 20-Oct-2008 15:26:54

Yeah that was my point, if they didn't fill them out, or if say they filled out only the music and books one, only what is filled out should be shown, and if nothing is filled out then nothing should be shown. I dunno if that makes any sense at all....

ya, I'll take a look at that one.

Post 7 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Monday, 20-Oct-2008 16:45:21

Um the word interest is spelled correctly. And the fields are shown regardless, just like everything else on profiles.

Post 8 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 20-Oct-2008 18:18:57

Maybe its just the word viewinterests oh.. okay now that's what it is, the word view and interests are together without a space.

I still don't see where you're talking about, unless you're referring to the URL, which of course doesn't have a space.

If you look at the last interest at the end of each catigory, you'll see for example....

hanging out with friends
viewinterests
there's ware the space isn't between the two words. I assume its a database thing.

i would like to respond to post 7:

you say all the profile fields are shown regardless, well in a way you are right, but take someone who's not filled out there profile... the about you, messenger, skype and website fields are not shown. as for the original idea, i now understand what this is all about, and support it fully. why have link view interests in a profile, if there's nothing to view?. to me anyway, it's stupid

Thanks. I thought that perhaps my point wasn't clear with Jay and wasn't sure how to put it.

makes perfect sense, but the only thing I have about the website thing, say I put in facebook.com, zonebbs.com, and dragonlunacy.com. sure you might know what these are, but what if you didn't, can we put in like an ancher tag or something in there to show like, for example, facebook.com=facebook, or like a place to do this and a discription field so we can see a bit about the website?

Post 14 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 21-Oct-2008 16:08:05

You just took my idea one step further! I didn't think of that.
There should be something ware there is someone checking the validity of the websites though, what if there becomes a tun of broken links on here? I have no idea how it would be implamented, but it would have to be someone other then a CL i'd think, as they have enough on there plates.

the only way i can think of how this would work is as follows:

we have a limited number of websites... let's say 4. each time you enter an address, you have a box next to it that allows you to put in a description of the website, so there would be 8 boxes in total.

as for monitering websites, the only thing i could really think of is a "remove link" below the link that is broken. the 2 advantages of this would be, firstly it would save space if the link is broken, and also if you do not go there anymore, it will give you the chance to insert another 1

That's true, but keep in mind that URL's don't take up much space.

I like both ideas. Especially the website one.

I like the ideas as well. There are a lot of really cool sites out there. Just when you think you have seen them all... Well, then another good one comes along smiles.
